Getting Started

1. Download & Install

Download MileageBuddy from the App Store and install it on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Grant Location Permissions

When prompted, allow location access. Choose "Always" for automatic background tracking.

3. Enable Automatic Tracking

Toggle on automatic tracking in the app settings and start driving!

4. Review & Categorize

Check your trip history and categorize trips as business, personal, or commute.

Managing Trips

View All Trips

Access your complete trip history in the History tab.

Edit a Trip

Tap any trip to edit details, change category, or add notes about the business purpose.

Delete a Trip

Swipe left on any trip and tap delete to remove it from your records.

Export Reports

Go to Settings > Export Reports to generate IRS-compliant CSV or PDF reports for tax time.

Subscription & Billing

Manage Your Subscription

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap "Subscriptions"
  4. Select MileageBuddy

Cancel Subscription

You can cancel anytime through App Store settings. There are no cancellation fees. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Free Trial

New users get a 7-day free trial. Cancel anytime during the trial period to avoid charges.

Restore Purchases

If you reinstalled the app or got a new device, go to Settings > Restore Purchases to regain access to your subscription.

Troubleshooting

Trips Not Tracking Automatically?

  1. Check location permissions: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > MileageBuddy (should be set to "Always")
  2. Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled: Settings > General > Background App Refresh
  3. Verify automatic tracking is enabled in MileageBuddy app settings
  4. Try restarting the app

App Not Calculating Mileage Correctly?

  • Ensure GPS signal is strong (tracking works best outdoors)
  • Check that location permissions are set to "Always"
  • Verify your device has a clear view of the sky when driving
  • Make sure your iPhone's date and time are set correctly

Can't Restore Subscription?

  1. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase
  2. Go to MileageBuddy Settings > Restore Purchases
  3. Wait a few moments for the restore to complete
  4. If still having issues, contact support at support@mileagebuddy.app

Battery Draining Quickly?

MileageBuddy is optimized for minimal battery usage. If you're experiencing battery drain:

  • Check if other apps are using excessive battery
  • Ensure you're running the latest version of MileageBuddy
  • Update to the latest iOS version
  • Contact support if the issue persists

App Crashes or Freezes?

  1. Force close the app and reopen it
  2. Restart your iPhone
  3. Check for app updates in the App Store
  4. If the problem continues, email us at support@mileagebuddy.app with details about when the crash occurs

Privacy & Data

Is My Location Data Private?

Yes. Your location data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers. We don't sell your data to third parties.

Can I Delete My Data?

Absolutely. You can delete individual trips or all trip data at any time from within the app. To completely remove all data, simply uninstall the app.
